NORAD is a joint facility staffed by all branches of the military. Established in the 1950's to coordinate interception of unidentified aircraft by our combat forces, NORAD is located inside Cheyenne Mountain, southwest of Colorado Springs. NORAD provides early warning for North America and vital space tracking functions.
